The Relationship among Stress, Depression and Burnout in Nursing

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among variables of stress, depression and burnout in nursing students. Data were collected by questionnaire from 231 nursing college students. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency, percentage, means, and pearson correlation. The results of this study were as follows. The mean score on stress was 1.95, depression was 1.84, and self efficacy was 2.73. A positive correlation was found between stress and depression and stress and burnout. Based on the results, there is a need for curriculum development to help nursing students cope with stress. Also, there is a need for the development of a health promotion program so as to increase the level of satisfaction of nursing students with regards to their major increases and thus improve their clinical practice.
